Christopher Ramirez is Las Vegas through and through. His father was the last maitre d’ at the Dunes Showroom. His first job was as a lifeguard at Steve Wynn’s Golden Nugget. His first company was a valet service for Rat Pack member, Nicki Blair.
After a stint in gaming as a casino consultant, he dove into the film business, working first in the locations department on films like Disney’s Race to Witch Mountain and The Hangover, before founding Silver State Production Services - the seed money for which was from Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh. The company was a key service provider for multiple commercials, music videos, and films including The Hangover III for which Ramirez personally worked with a former US Senator to shut down The Strip completely for filming. (No small feat... even for a connected local.)
Ramirez was also instrumental in bringing indie films About Sunny, The Motel Life, The Mustang, and The Trust to Nevada. Working alongside another Las Vegas local, Nicolas Cage, Ramirez helped land the state’s film tax incentive, which helped when he went on to produce the Sundance-Premiering Frank & Lola (Michael Shannon) and Viena & the Fantomes (Jeremy Allen White, Dakota Fanning, Zoe Kravitz) through his company Lola Pictures. Both films prominently feature Las Vegas in ways not usually seen – something Christopher intends to continue on a bigger, yet more personal, scale with Naked City.
Claire Rose Kennedy also lived in Las Vegas and still has the daydrinker.com domain to prove it. Since relocating to Los Angeles, she has written features, pilots, and commercial films and treatments for top directors and producers including Sam Hargrave and Joseph Kosinski (The Whisper, Ground of Honour), Nicolai Fuglsig (Wrath, Fallen Angel), and Stephano Gallini-Durante (The Wolf’s Skin).
Before turning to writing, she worked in a variety of positions from grip to production manager. Returning to set, she recently finished directing her short film The Thread and is at work on a variety of projects.
Please let us know who you are and we’d be happy to share more information.
